Launch of the “Restoration and Rehabilitation of the Historic Jenin Municipality Library Building” Project - Phase I

Jenin - In early February, the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon (Welfare Association) launched the first phase of the restoration project of the Jenin Municipal Library building. The project aims to rehabilitate and preserve the building as a prominent historical and architectural landmark, while respecting its authentic architectural and heritage values to ensure its continuity and sustainability for future generations.

Launch of Restoration and Rehabilitation Works at the Palestine Red Crescent Clinics in Bab Hutta - Jerusalem

Jerusalem - On 21 January 2026, the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon (Welfare Association) began the restoration and rehabilitation works of the Palestine Red Crescent clinics building in the Bab Hutta area, located within the Old City of Jerusalem, just a few meters from Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Vital Projects Continue to Support the Resilience of Jerusalemites and Preserve the Heritage of the Old City of Jerusalem

Jerusalem - Work continues on a number of vital projects in the Old City of Jerusalem as part of an integrated plan aimed at supporting the resilience of local residents and improving their living conditions, while also preserving the city’s architectural and religious heritage.

Key ongoing projects include:

-Residential Units: Work is currently underway on four residential units, which will benefit four Jerusalemite families living in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem – On Monday, 9 March 2026, the specialized training course titled “Emergency Recovery and Management of Cultural Heritage Sites for Engineers and Site Managers in Gaza” was launched online via Zoom, with Engineer Ayman Abu Shaaban delivering the first session of the program. The course brings together 24 participants, including engineers and site managers from within Gaza and from the Gazan professional community residing outside the Strip.

Old Cities Revitalization Program Al-Taawon (Welfare Association) Foundation successfully concluded a series of three specialized and intensive training courses in the field of architectural conservation and sustainable rehabilitation. These courses were held during November 2025 as part of the activities of the "Quality Urban Development and Sustainable Interventions - Rehabilitation for Revitalization" (QUDSI-R4R) project.

Concluding the specialized course titled "Restoration and Management of Heritage and Historical Sites" at Al-Quds University.

Old Cities Revitalization Program Al-Taawon (Welfare Association) concluded a specialized training course in the field of restoration and management of heritage and historical sites at Al-Quds University, held for the seventh consecutive year. The course was funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in partnership with Al-Quds University and took place during July and August of this year.

The Old City Revival Program at Al-Taawon (Welfare Association) has concluded a specialized training course titled "Introduction to Historical and Architectural Development in Palestine." The course included 3 theoretical lectures totaling 9 training hours, delivered by Dr. Nazmi Al-Ju'beh via the Zoom platform, and a practical component consisting of two field tours.
