Jerusalem - As part of ongoing efforts to protect cultural heritage, preparations have started to issue a tender for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Islamic Archaeological Museum (Phase One), located within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem. The project is funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
This project is being prepared under difficult conditions due to the continued closures in Jerusalem’s Old City, particularly the restrictions on access to the courtyards and facilities of Al-Aqsa Mosque, including the museum, for more than one and a half months.
To address these challenges, a virtual introductory session was organized for contractors, along with a coordination meeting attended by interested contractors and engineers from the Islamic Waqf Department. During the meeting, the project scope and technical requirements were presented and explained.
This effort reflects the commitment of the implementing parties to continue work on protecting and preserving cultural heritage despite the current challenges.
