Launch of the Fifth Module within the Heritage Recovery Training Program in Gaza

As part of Taawon’s efforts, through the Old Cities Revitalization Program, to support the cultural heritage sector in Gaza, the training program titled “Emergency Interventions for Heritage Recovery and Site Management” continues, with the implementation of its fifth module under the supervision of Dr. Trevor Marchand, and with active participation from engineers and site managers from within the Gaza Strip.

Completion of advanced modules within a specialized training program to support engineering professionals in Gaza

As part of the ongoing efforts led by the Welfare Association through its Old Cities Revitalization Program, the third module of the specialized training course titled “Emergency Interventions for Heritage Recovery and Site Management for Engineers and Site Managers in Gaza” has been successfully completed. The module was delivered by Dr. Amra Hadžimuhamedović, alongside the completion of the fourth module delivered by Dr. Luigi, with the participation of 26 engineers and site managers from across the Gaza Strip.

Start of Preparations to Issue the Tender for the Restoration and Rehabilitation of the Islamic Archaeological Museum - Phase One at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Jerusalem - As part of ongoing efforts to protect cultural heritage, preparations have started to issue a tender for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Islamic Archaeological Museum (Phase One), located within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem. The project is funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.

Restoration Projects Continue in the Old City of Jerusalem Despite Ongoing Challenges

Jerusalem - At the beginning of March, the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon (Welfare Association) is preparing to launch the second phase of the Al-Jabsha project, following the signing of the funding agreement and scope of works, paving the way for the tendering process and the start of implementation. This development comes as a continuation of the first phase, which is still underway, within a comprehensive vision aimed at protecting the historic urban fabric and strengthening its resilience.

Taawon Completes the Rehabilitation Project of Six Museums in the West Bank and Jerusalem

Jerusalem – In early March 2026, a grant project aimed at rehabilitating six museums and storage facilities belonging to the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities was successfully completed. The project covered sites in Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Beit Sahour, the town of Dura, Sebastia, and the city of Jerusalem. It was implemented with funding from the British Council, with a total value of £100,000, under an agreement signed between Taawon (Welfare Association) and the British Council in September 2025.

Completion of STEM Laboratories to Enhance the Educational Environment in Jerusalem

Jerusalem - The fifth and final package of the STEM laboratories development project is expected to be completed during March as part of the broader initiative to enhance the educational environment at Al-Ummah School and Riyad Al-Aqsa School. The project is implemented within the framework of support aimed at promoting interactive learning and strengthening students’ skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Completion of the Rehabilitation Works of the Specialized Clinics at Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem

Jerusalem - Civil works for the rehabilitation project of the specialized clinics at Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem are expected to be completed soon. The project was launched by the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon (Welfare Association) in April 2025, with funding from the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies.

Continuation of the Rehabilitation Project of the Historic Jenin Municipal Library

Jenin - Restoration and rehabilitation works at the historic Jenin Municipal Library building are continuing under the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon (Welfare Association). In recent weeks, a number of preparatory works have been completed at the site, including the installation of scaffolding along the library’s facades and the removal of deteriorated and damaged mortar joints, in accordance with the approved plans and in a manner that preserves the building’s historic character.
