Taawon Completes the Rehabilitation Project of Six Museums in the West Bank and Jerusalem

Jerusalem – In early March 2026, a grant project aimed at rehabilitating six museums and storage facilities belonging to the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities was successfully completed. The project covered sites in Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Beit Sahour, the town of Dura, Sebastia, and the city of Jerusalem. It was implemented with funding from the British Council, with a total value of £100,000, under an agreement signed between Taawon (Welfare Association) and the British Council in September 2025.

Following the agreement, implementation memoranda were signed in October with three local partner institutions: Riwaq – Centre for Architectural Conservation, the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation in Bethlehem, and the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee.

The works included restoration and rehabilitation interventions to selected infrastructure elements, in addition to the supply of equipment, devices, and furniture required to improve display and storage environments in the targeted museums.

The project covered the following institutions: Khan Al-Bireh Museum, Sebastia Museum, storage facilities of the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Dar Zekreet Museum in Beit Sahour, Dura Museum, and the Dar Al-Tifel Al-Arabi Museum in Jerusalem. The project was supervised by the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon, as part of its broader efforts to support cultural institutions and strengthen the protection of cultural heritage in Palestine.
