Jerusalem - Rehabilitation and development works at Riyad Al-Aqsa School, located in Al-Saadiya Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem, have been successfully completed.
The project involved upgrading the school’s facilities and refurbishing classrooms to provide a safe and healthy learning environment that meets students’ educational, social, and psychological needs. These improvements contribute to strengthening the educational process and creating a more supportive and motivating learning space for students.
Implementation of the project took place under exceptional circumstances. The ongoing war in Gaza and repeated closures in Jerusalem created significant logistical challenges, including prolonged restrictions on workers’ access to the site. In addition, the sensitive historical context of the Old City required careful coordination to preserve the site’s architectural and cultural character. Financial and administrative constraints also affected the continuity of implementation at certain stages. Despite these challenges, the project was completed successfully, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting education and reinforcing the resilience of educational institutions in Jerusalem.
Dr. Fuad Abdeen, Director of Riyad Al-Aqsa School, praised the efforts of the Welfare Association team and their continuous support, which ensured that the rehabilitation works were completed to the highest standards.
This project forms part of ongoing efforts supported by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development to sustain practical and long-term support for vital institutions in Jerusalem, and to strengthen the Palestinian presence in the city through education and knowledge.
