Rehabilitation of Habaleh project

African Community Society

The restoration and adaptive reuse of “African Community Society” building was completed at the end of 2013.The building is used by the African community since 1996, where the club organizes cultural and social activities to serve the Old City residents. The building is located in the Eastern part of Al-Rabat Al-Mansouri complex, which was built during the Mamluk period, and consists of a multi-purpose hall separated by two rows of stone pillars with adjacent rooms.The restoration work included re-tiling all floors with stone tiles and re-pointing the stone ceiling and walls with tradi

The Arab Catholic Scout Group

The Arab Catholic Scout Group was established in 1928 to provide services for the youth in the Old City of Jerusalem, mainly scouting activities. The building consists of three stories, in which 2 stories were restored and part of the ground floor. The project started from 15/9/2013 until 20/6/2013.

Arab Society for the Blind

Located in the centre of the Old City, the buildings in this exceptional complex date from the Ottoman period. Originally built as a residence and used as a school during Jordanian rule, the Arab Blind Association rented the complex in 1954 to serve the blind in Jerusalem. The three levels of buildings surrounding beautiful gardens are used as workshops for the blind, offices and services. The restoration project included introducing new infrastructure, tiling the courtyards and adapting some of the buildings to accommodate the special needs of the blind.
