The Dr. Azzam Sadeq Kanaan School was inaugurated on 26 September 2024 in the Old City of Nablus, on the site of Sabbanet Kanaan. The school was constructed thanks to the generous donation of the late Dr. Azzam Kanaan and his wife, Mrs. Shadia Misbah Kanaan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mrs. Shadia Kanaan, the Governor of Nablus, the Minister of Local Government, the Mayor of Nablus, and the Director of Education, in addition to representatives from Taawon (Welfare Association), several local figures and institutions, and members of the Kanaan family.
The school building consists of two floors and includes two laboratories, classrooms, administrative offices, a clinic, and public facilities, providing a comprehensive educational environment aimed at supporting and advancing girls’ education. The school currently enrolls 145 students, distributed across grades five through ten, while the school’s maximum capacity is 170 students.
The building represents an important addition to strengthening educational opportunities for girls in the Old City of Nablus. It stands as a distinguished educational landmark designed by Engineer Sameh Kanaan and ACES Engineering Company. Implementation was overseen by the Municipality of Nablus, with close follow-up from Haj Adli Yaish, and the project was managed by the Old Cities of Jerusalem Rehabilitation Programme at Taawon.
