Continuation of the Heritage Recovery Training Program in Gaza and Implementation of Advanced Modules

Al-Taawon, through the Old Cities Revitalization Program, continues to implement the specialized training program titled “Emergency Interventions for Heritage Recovery and Site Management for Engineers and Site Managers in Gaza,” funded by Dr. Nabil Qaddumi.

A significant portion of the program’s training modules has already been completed, with active participation from engineers and site managers from across the Gaza Strip. The program comes within broader efforts aimed at building the capacities of local professionals and enhancing their readiness to address damage affecting heritage sites, thereby supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts under current conditions.

The program will continue through a series of advanced lectures delivered by a number of experts. Dr. Ayman Harzallah will present a series of lectures on emergency structural interventions, focusing on reinforcement methods and reconstruction of damaged parts in historic buildings. Dr. Zeynep Gul Unal will also deliver specialized sessions on risk analysis and adaptive planning, helping participants strengthen their ability to deal with complex environments and develop flexible responses to future challenges. In the same context, Dr. Mahmoud Balawi will present lectures focusing on the current situation of cultural heritage in Gaza and recovery plans, reviewing current challenges and linking theoretical aspects with practical application on the ground.

The completion of these modules represents an important step toward building an integrated knowledge framework for participants, combining documentation, assessment, planning, and practical intervention, and contributing to the preparation of professionals capable of leading sustainable recovery and reconstruction efforts that preserve cultural identity and strengthen community resilience.
