Launch of Restoration and Rehabilitation Works at the Palestine Red Crescent Clinics in Bab Hutta - Jerusalem

Jerusalem - On 21 January 2026, the Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon (Welfare Association) began the restoration and rehabilitation works of the Palestine Red Crescent clinics building in the Bab Hutta area, located within the Old City of Jerusalem, just a few meters from Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The implementation of the project came after overcoming a number of challenges that accompanied the preparation and launch phases, including strict closures, difficulties in bringing workers and materials into the area, and the sensitivity of the site, among other challenges.

The project is being implemented within the framework of a cooperation agreement signed in early 2025 between Taawon and the Palestine Red Crescent Society, with the aim of establishing a well-equipped health clinic that will serve residents of the Old City. The project seeks to strengthen the resilience of the local community and improve the level of healthcare services provided in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The project is funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
